Regulations for El Clasico Sabah 2017<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1. Invitation<\/span>
1.1. The Sabah Chess Association (SCA) is\u00a0<\/span>honored to invite all chess players to par<\/span>ticipate in El Cl\u0013asico Sabah 2017.<\/span>
1.2. The Tournament will be held in Kota Kin<\/span>abalu, Sabah from 18th to 22nd October\u00a0<\/span>2017.<\/span>
1.3. This Standard FIDE rated event is or<\/span>ganized by the Sabah Chess Association(SCA) and Sabah Chess Academy\u00a0<\/span>(SCAD).<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Playing venue<\/span>
2.1. All matches will take place at the Sabah\u00a0<\/span>Chess Academy playing hall.<\/span>
2.2. The venue is located at the Sabah Chess\u00a0<\/span>Academy, No. 15, 1st oor, Block C, Plaza\u00a0<\/span>King\fsher, Lorong King\fsher 5, 88450\u00a0<\/span>Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Technical regulations<\/span>
3.1. The competition will be 9 rounds, with a\u00a0<\/span>single game for each round, Swiss format.<\/span>
3.2. The rate of play is 90 minutes plus 30\u00a0<\/span>seconds increment per move starting from\u00a0<\/span>move 1.<\/span>
3.3. Players are required to record all moves in\u00a0<\/span>the correct manner, move after move, as\u00a0<\/span>clearly and legibly as possible, in the alge<\/span>braic notation.<\/span>
3.4. Default time shall be 30 minutes after the\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span>start of the game. A player forfeits the\u00a0<\/span>game shall he or she has not appeared at\u00a0<\/span>the respective board after this time and\u00a0<\/span>will be excluded in the remaining rounds,\u00a0<\/span>unless the Chief Arbiter decides otherwise.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
3.5. The tie-break criteria<\/span>

4.2. The Chief Arbiter may issue additional\u00a0<\/span>written regulations to lay down the exact\u00a0<\/span>playing hours and take care of other de<\/span>tails not covered.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Prize<\/span>
5.1. Cash prizes<\/span>
No. 1. RM 1,500.00<\/span>

5.2. In case of a tie between two or more play<\/span>ers in their \ffinal standings before the tie-<\/span>breaks, the prize money shall be divided\u00a0<\/span>equally.<\/span>
5.3. The top 10 players in \ffinal ranking shall\u00a0<\/span>be awarded the following medals<\/span>
No. 1. Gold color for the Champion<\/span>
No. 2. Silver color for the 2nd place<\/span>
No. 3. Bronze color for the 3rd to the\u00a0<\/span>10th places<\/span>
5.4. The Best Women player in the event\u00a0<\/span>shall receive a bronze color medal for her\u00a0<\/span>achievement.<\/span>
5.5. A bronze color medal shall be awarded to\u00a0<\/span>each of the Best Boy and Best Girl players\u00a0<\/span>under 18, 15 and 12 respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Each winners eligible to receive only one award,\u00a0<\/span>whichever the higher.<\/span><\/p>\n

7. A certi\fficate of achievement will be awarded to\u00a0<\/span>the winners and a certifi\fcate of participation\u00a0<\/span>shall also be awarded to all players who \ffinish\u00a0<\/span>all games.<\/span><\/p>\n

8.1. Entry fee<\/span>
8.1.1. Unrated Malaysian RM 80<\/span>
8.1.2. Rated Malaysian RM 70<\/span>
8.1.3. SCA Members RM 60<\/span>
8.1.4. Non-Malaysian RM 100<\/span>
8.2. FIDE ID is required for unrated Non-<\/span>Malaysians.<\/span>
8.3. The entry fee shall be paid to the Persat<\/span>uan Catur Negeri Sabah, Maybank<\/strong> current\u00a0<\/span>account number 5602-5011-4421.<\/strong><\/span><\/span>
8.4. Please send the entry form by email to\u00a0<\/span>the Tournament Organizing Secretary (see<\/span>10.1).<\/span>
8.5. All registrations shall be made not later\u00a0<\/span>than 15th October 2017.<\/span>
8.6. The Organizers reserve the right to reject\u00a0<\/span>any entry.<\/span><\/p>\n

9. Tournament Conditions<\/span>
9.1. Players are required to attend the Play<\/span>ers’ Meeting on the day of the Opening at\u00a0<\/span>a time to be decided by the Chief Arbiter\u00a0<\/span>and the Organizers. If necessary, the Chief\u00a0<\/span>Arbiter may call other Players’ Meetings.<\/span>
9.2. The players are not permitted to speak\u00a0<\/span>to their opponents during the games. A\u00a0<\/span>player may talk only to an arbiter or com<\/span>
municate with an assistant. Appropriate\u00a0<\/span>sporting behavior is expected from all par<\/span>ticipants.<\/span>
9.3. A protest against any decision must be\u00a0<\/span>submitted in writing to the Chairman of\u00a0<\/span>the Appeals Committee within 15 minutes\u00a0<\/span>after the game, or the particular infringe<\/span>ment complained against. The decision of\u00a0<\/span>the Appeals Committee is \fnal.<\/span>
9.4. Each protest must be accompanied by a\u00a0<\/span>deposit fee of RM 200. If the protest is\u00a0<\/span>accepted, the fee shall be returned. If the\u00a0<\/span>protest is rejected, then, in this case, the\u00a0<\/span>Organizers reserve the right to withhold\u00a0<\/span>the deposit fee.<\/span>
9.5. All players are not permitted to bring into\u00a0<\/span>the playing hall any electronic or techni<\/span>cal or other equipment extraneous to play,\u00a0<\/span>which may in any way disturb or upset the\u00a0<\/span>opponent or may be in breach of the Rules\u00a0<\/span>of Chess. The Chief Arbiter shall decide\u00a0<\/span>what constitutes extraneous equipment li<\/span>able to o\u000bend the opponent or may be in\u00a0<\/span>breach of the Rules of Chess.<\/span>
9.6. Players are requested to note the require<\/span>ments of FIDE Regulations C.01 (Article\u00a0<\/span>8.1) in respect of their digni\fed appear<\/span>ance at all times during the matches. Slip<\/span>pers\/sandals, singlet, shorts, tights and\u00a0<\/span>the like shall not be allowed.<\/span>
9.7. Should a player be in repeated breach of\u00a0<\/span>any of these regulations, the Organizers re<\/span>serve the right to expel the player from\u00a0<\/span>the tournament. In this case, the expelled\u00a0<\/span>player will not have any right to any prize\u00a0<\/span>money and\/or award, irrespective of his or\u00a0<\/span>her standing at the time of expulsion.<\/span>
9.8. At any time in the course of the applica<\/span>tion of these regulations, any grounds that\u00a0<\/span>are not covered or any unforeseen event\u00a0<\/span>shall be referred to the Tournament Di<\/span>rector for a \fnal decision.<\/span><\/p>\n
